Race day clothing

When it comes to picking your race clothes there’s a few simple guidelines to remember.

Comfort is (almost) everything

Wear clothes you know are comfortable. That means materials which are smooth on your skin and clothes you feel good in. If you can find clothes that make you feel fast and comfortable at the same time, all the better.

Don’t let yourself get too hot

When you’re running at race speed you’re more likely to get too hot than too cold. So wearing clothes that are thin and minimal (.e.g short sleeves or a vest) is likely to result in a faster time than warmer garments.

Careful of chafing

Be sure to pick clothes that don’t rub your skin in a painful way.

Wear fast shoes

Carbon plated shoes are a great race day addition, just be sure to have worn them a few times in training before race day.

Remember the golden rule to follow when deciding what to wear for your race: “Nothing new on race day”. Be sure to have worn all your clothes and shoes before race day so that you’re confident they work for you.
