About the Quito 10K
The Quito 10K delivers Ecuadorian highland challenge at extreme elevation. Runners navigate through the world's second-highest capital at 2,850 meters in the shadow of active volcanoes. July's dry season creates ideal racing conditions as participants experience both Spanish colonial UNESCO center and modern Ecuadorian life. The extremely challenging course features both serious altitude and hills while providing continuous volcanic scenery. Ecuadorian spectators create an atmosphere of traditional Andean support as participants flow through streets straddling the equator. This significant race captures Quito's distinctive character—geographically extreme yet culturally preserved—offering a quintessential Andean running experience that showcases Ecuador's unique position combining indigenous traditions with Spanish colonial heritage.
